For those of you who know Skylar, she's a girl with her own ideas - ideas that she doesn't particularly want to share with you. While she is wild, crazy, loud & talkative at home, she can be super quiet in certain social situations. She is very quiet at school and basically won't talk at all unless it's one-on-one. That being said, certain things have been a bit of a struggle, especially the weekly What's in the Bag? Every Monday, Skye brings in an item that starts with the letter of the week. We put it in a bag and she comes up with 5 clues. At school, she is supposed to give her classmates the clues and let them guess what she brought. So far this year, she has not been able to do this at all. :( We started letting her do her clues just in front of her teacher. Obviously, I have been doing my best to encourage her to try in front of her classmates, and using my very best bribes, but no luck. Last Monday, the teacher asked her if she wanted to try just one clue in front of the class, and she said yes! Then she got up and did all five!! Hooray!!! :) She even managed to get a Stumper - the class couldn't guess it! Of course I was totally thrilled and so happy, but the best part is that she was thrilled and proud of herself and feels much more confident. I had promised her a big reward when she finally felt comfortable enough to do her clues, so she wanted to go to Target afterwards and picked out this High School Musical car & doll. :) I feel like she's past a big hurdle now... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Monday...
